Last Thursday, Pinterest announced that they are launching a new feature for advertisers, promoted pins. While in theory, promoted pins will be nearly identical to Facebook’s promoted posts, Pinterest promises these pins will not be glorified banner ads or spam. The intention is to build on Pinterest’s social sharing foundation, but feature promoted pins tailored to users’ favorite boards and interests.

For our first test, we’ll promote a few pins in search results and category feeds. For example, a pin for a Darth Vader outfit from a costume shop might be promoted in a search for “halloween.” Nobody’s paying for anything yet—we want to see how things go and, more than anything, hear what you think.

We had a lot of fun at the International Beauty Show in New York City, this past April. Meeting users, showcasing the latest and greatest from Salon Iris and discovering new trends in the salon industry all contribute to overall International Beauty Show experience.
However, at Salon Iris, our favorite part of any trade show is when we get to contact the raffle winner from the Salon Iris software give away.
This year’s raffle winner, from the New York International Beauty Show, is Sascha Duckenfield from Cozmo’s Hair Color. Sascha and Cozmo’s Hair Color were already using Salon Iris software, so we set them up with a brand new Salon Iris Version 10 update.
